Question Heroes and "Blood is Power"

I can't get my hero to use "Blood is Power"...

I want to have my Ranger hero to stay back, out of combat, placing spirits and using BiP on me. But, he just stays there placing the spirits and never uses the BiP althoug my energy is 0 (zero) and Iam near him. Iam also away from combat casting spells on the hero tanking the mobs.
If I replace BiP for "Blood Ritual" he uses it correctly but, i need all the energy I can get and BiP is better that way.

Do the Hero needs to be in combat to use it or something?

Thanks,
impression

During the WPE, my heroes were BiPing me like crazy. Did you try and change the offensive/defensive setting?

It worked fine for me as well during that preview.

However, currently, I find that heroes very, VERY rarely cast it, even when they have ample amounts of health and energy, and a party member has next to no energy. Most of the time, I'm reduced to manually forcing it myself, which is a bit annoying.

Unfortunately,I find that hero monks tend to respond to those few rare times by casting spells like Heal Other and throwing away most of the gained energy when Orison would suffice.

The end result is that I don't think BiP on a hero is worth it.

I changed bettewn the defensive and "avoid combat" settings with no result. If I set the offensive setting he runs off to attack agroing the mobs and getting killed :P

If I change to Blood Ritual he does is job rigth with defensive or "avoid combat" setting, that what is strange ...

Heroes seem to prefer reserving BIP for battle situations. My hero didn't BIP me even though I was at 0 energy untill we encountered some enemies and started fighting.

There's a few spells that need 'fixing' for heros. I notice a necro won't really use Well of Blood much. Well of Power seem's to be spammed well enough (No pun intended).

I don't know if this applies to BiP, but it certainly does to Blood Ritual(Eve, Claude):

If you have spellcaster equipment in use, then you are classified as a viable target for BR.

If you have, for example, a Fiery Flame Spitter equipped, you are classified as a fighter, and not a viable target for BR.

I have seen this happen with bows as well. After I pull a mob, sometimes I have forgotten to switch back to a staff, or wand&focus. The AI did not BR me, even though I was a spellcaster, and low on energy.

How the AI looks at you is dependent on what you have equipped.

I've had the cultist henchie in Prophecies BR me many times while playing a ranger (and thus using a bow).

An important tip is that the farther left a skill is on the skill bar the more it's used. Where do you have BiP?

Do the heroes use Blood Rit reliably though?

Thats funny seeings how my Ranger regularly gets BR's from Claude >_>

Also my Koss has no problem using BiP if the situation is right (only if you have low energy, he is near full haelth, and you are in combat). Haven't tryed it on a caster or ranger..

Put it in slot 1 (most left). Use it in combination like the bosses do, e.g. this one (Lieutenant Vanahk)

* Blood is Power (Elite)
* Life Siphon
* Signet of Lost Souls
* Strip Enchantment

And DONT add more skills right at the start. It seems most heroes work best with a smaller set of skills. Extra skills can be added but don't rely on them too much. The only exeption is a res signet/skill in slot 8. Keep in mind that this works best in a team of 8.
